DAILY GUIDED TOURS IN CAPPADOCIA

REGULAR GROUP TOURS: 

These 3 tours are regular group tours in English. There are about 15-20 people on the tours and operates between 09:00-17:00 with pick-up and drop-off from your hotel. The tours include transportation with air-conditioned buses, entrance fees, lunch, and professional guidance. The tour guides speak fluent English and are licensed by The Ministry of Culture and specialized in the sites. The regular group tours include some shopping visits as a natural part of the tours, but of course, purchasing any items is not necessary. During the private tours, you may skip the shopping visits informing your guide at the beginning of the tour(s).  

North Cappadocia Tour: You will be picked up from your hotel at around 09:00-09:30 and start the day visiting Devrent Valley, also known as “Imagination Valley”, this is the most surreal-looking landscape. Your next stop will be Pashabagi called also the Monks Valley because Christian hermits chose to locate hermit cells and churches in these three-headed pinnacles symbolic of the Holy Trinity, it´s possible to see all the stages in the formation of fairy chimneys at this spot. Proceed to Avanos (Vanessa) the pottery center of Cappadocia, this village is set on the banks of the Kizilirmak/Red River. The river gets its name from the red clay it deposits. You can watch the potters at work using kick wheels, the technique which has remained unchanged for generations. Lunch. Continue to Goreme Open Air Museum. The world´s most important Byzantine cave churches are found in these once remote valleys where monks and nuns pursued monastic life from the 3rd century on. Here you can see the best-preserved Byzantine cave wall paintings and frescos from the Iconoclastic period through to the end of Seljuk rule. Icons with scenes from the Old Testament and the New Testament above portraits of Church Fathers and saints depict the structure of the Byzantine universe. Panoramic viewpoint Esentepe. With a spectacular view over Goreme from Esentepe see the complete view of Goreme valley and Goreme village: fairy chimneys, rock formations, and cave houses. After the tour, you will be transferred to your hotel.

South Cappadocia Tour: You will be picked up from your hotel at around 09:00-09:30 and start the day with a walk-in Red Valley, famous for its rocks capes, local culture, and historical sights. Depending on the season, you may see local people plowing their gardens or harvesting their crops. This walk normally takes 2 – 3 hours. At the end of your walk, you will reach Cavusin Village. Here a spectacular rock castle that once housed everyone in the village is awaiting you. Climbing up on the top of the castle you can see the ruins of Saint John the Baptists, a very large Byzantine church. Walk around the castle and visit some of the homes that were lived in until recently. Lunch. Continue driving to Kaymakli Underground City, one of the best-preserved and most visited Underground Cities in Cappadocia. This city is approximately 40m deep. It contains all the usual rooms found in an underground city (stables, cellars, storage rooms, refectories, churches, wineries, etc.). Continue to Pigeon Valley a spectacular view of old abandoned cave homes and old Greek houses of Uchisar. After the tour, you will be transferred to your hotel.

Ihlara Valley and Derinkuyu Underground City Tour: You will be picked up from your hotel at around 09:00-09:30 and start the tour with a spectacular view over Goreme from Esentepe. You will see the complete view of Goreme valley and Goreme village: fairy chimneys, rock formations, and cave houses. Continue driving to Derinkuyu Underground City, one of the best-preserved and deepest Underground Cities in Cappadocia. Derinkuyu is excavated to a depth of approximately 85 m. It contains all the usual rooms found in an underground city (stables, cellars, storage rooms, refectories, churches, wineries, etc.), a large room on the second floor was a missionary school with study rooms. Proceed to Ihlara Valley. This gorge is 16 km long and both sides are lined with rock carved churches, there are more than a hundred little churches and houses. You will walk about 4 km along the river in the valley exploring the hidden churches. At the end of your walk lunch will be served at Belisirma Village by the river. On the way back visit Selime Monastery, carved out of the rock by Christian monks in the 13th century. The size of the church makes a visit here astonishing. Stop briefly at Yaprakhisar Panorama point for another view of this great Monastery (this is also the spot where the famous movie “Star Wars” was shot). After the tour, you will be dropped off at your hotel.

These 6 tours are small group tours with around 8-15 people. The tours are led by a professional English-speaking tour guide, starting at around 09:00 with pickup from hotels and ending at around 16:30. Transportation w/ A/C vehicles, lunch (except drinks), entrance fees, and guidance in English are included in the tours. The tours can be arranged privately in any language for couples, families, or small groups.

SMALL GROUP TOURS: 

Small Groups Cappadocia Green Tour: Pick up from your hotel and you will visit Kaymakli Underground City (see how the people lived in this multi-level city complete with stables, kitchens, storage chambers, and winemaking rooms), Soganli Valley (Relaxing 3km. walking through the valley with Byzantine period rock tombs), Sobesos(A Roman Bath from the 5th century and mosaics and graves from Byzantine Empire Period), Taskinpasa Medresesi(an Ottoman theological school) and Mustafapasa (Experience the Ottoman and Greek architecture of this old Greek Village once called Sinasos).

Small Groups Cappadocia Blue Tour: You will visit Devrent Imagination Valley and walk through this lunar landscape. Next, visit Pasabaglari (the world-famous Fairy Chimneys), the village of Avanos, where you will witness a Pottery-making demonstration using ancient Hittite techniques, Uchisar Rock-Castle, (the highest point in the region, Esentepe (a panoramic view of Goreme valley) and Goreme Open Air Museum (Rock-cut churches, frescoes, monastery).
